Shoulder pain
A pinch when you reach overhead, or stiffness after lifting. Joint mobilization, rotator cuff strength and upper-back mobility.
Common causes
- Stiff upper back that makes the shoulder do extra work
- Weak rotator cuff and shoulder-blade muscles
- Too much overhead work too soon
A typical plan
- Week 1 to 2: free up the upper back and shoulder joint
- Week 3 to 6: build rotator cuff and shoulder-blade control
- Then: return to lifting, swimming or throwing with a loading plan
